Saint Paulinus of Nola, bishop (†431). From a noble Roman family, he was appointed consul and governor in Campania. Converted by Saint Ambrose and Saint Augustine, he abandoned his career and wealth for the evangelical ideal, withdrawing to a hermit's life in Nola, where he was later appointed bishop.
