Saint John Fisher, bishop, and Saint Thomas More, martyrs (†1535). The first was bishop of Rochester and a cardinal; the second, chancellor of the kingdom and a man of unshakable faith. Both were beheaded for opposing the divorce of King Henry VIII of England.
