Optional memorial of Saint Martin I, pope and martyr, who condemned the Monothelite heresy at the Lateran Synod; when the exarch Calliopas, by order of Emperor Constans II, violently invaded the Lateran Basilica, he was torn from his see and taken to Constantinople, where he remained a prisoner under extremely strict guard; finally, banished to Chersonesus, after about two years he reached the end of his tribulations and the eternal crown.
