Saint Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort, priest (†1716). An outstanding preacher, he was appointed apostolic missionary by Pope Clement IX. He founded the Company of Mary, of missionary priests; the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom, of hospitaller nuns; and the Brothers of Saint Gabriel, lay brothers devoted to teaching. A Marian saint par excellence, his spirituality is based on love for the Cross and the slavery of love to the Blessed Virgin.
