Optional memorial of Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin (†1548). Of indigenous origin, he was the one to whom the Virgin Mary appeared under the title of Guadalupe. A man of the purest faith and great fervor and humility, he worked to build a shrine to Our Lady on Tepeyac Hill, where she had appeared.
