Saint Henry, emperor (†1024 Grone – Germany). Duke of Bavaria and later emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. A great warrior, he fought in several battles in defense of the Church. He worked to reform ecclesial life and spread the Catholic faith throughout Europe. Moreover, he devoted himself entirely to the Church and the papacy: he built cathedrals, restored churches, founded episcopal sees, promoted monastic reforms, and converted Saint Stephen, king of Hungary.
