Saint Emilian of la Cogolla, priest (†cc. 574). Abandoning his work as a shepherd, he devoted himself to a hermit's life. Because of his reputation for holiness, the bishop of Tarazona, Spain, ordained him a priest. Exercising his duties in holiness, he aroused great envy, which forced the bishop to send him back to the solitude of the mountains, where he founded a community.
