Saint Adalbert (Vojtech), bishop of Prague and martyr, who endured many adversities in that Church and undertook numerous apostolic journeys for love of Christ, working ardently to eradicate pagan customs; seeing that his efforts met with little success, he went to Rome and became a monk; finally, having arrived in Poland to bring the inhabitants of Prussia to the faith, in Téntikken, near the mouth of the Vistula, he was pierced by the spears of some pagans.
