On the 30th, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima, in Cotia (SP), hosted the installation ceremony for Fr. Ricardo José Basso, EP, as the new rector of the basilica. The celebration was presided over by Fr. Sebastião Gomes Neto, Episcopal Vicar.

Located on Rua dos Agrimensores in Cotia, the Basilica has a history deeply rooted in devotion to Our Lady and the evangelizing work of the Heralds of the Gospel. Construction began in mid-2004, thanks to the efforts of Monsignor João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, founder of the Heralds of the Gospel, and the generosity of thousands of devotees. The church was solemnly dedicated on May 11, 2014, by Bishop Luís Antônio Guedes, then Bishop of Campo Limpo, in a celebration also attended by other prelates and hundreds of faithful from various regions of São Paulo and Brazil.

A few weeks later, on May 31 of that same year, the Holy See elevated the church to the status of a Minor Basilica, conferring upon it particular importance as a place of worship and devotion. Upon assuming the office of Rector, Fr. Ricardo José Basso takes on the mission of caring for this important Marian shrine, promoting the celebration of the Liturgy, devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and welcoming the faithful who come to the Basilica to pray and draw closer to God.
