On September 6, approximately 300 people attended a Mass of Consecration to Our Lady held at the Cathedral of Xochimilco in Mexico City.

The celebration was presided over by Bishop Juan María Huerta of Xochimilco and concelebrated by Fr. Javier Pérez and Fr. Andy Rodríguez.

Consecration to the Protection of Our Lady

Marian consecration is an act of surrender through which the faithful entrust their lives and spiritual journeys to the protection and intercession of the Mother of God, seeking to draw ever closer to her Divine Son.

At the Cathedral of Xochimilco, this gesture of devotion took on a communal dimension during Holy Mass, amid the emotion expressed by three hundred people.

The photographs of the celebration show the church filled with the faithful and capture different moments of the ceremony, from the celebration at the altar to the procession of the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima through the nave of the cathedral.

The symbolic coronation of the image is one of the highlights of the celebration and one of the greatest expressions of the Catholic faithful’s recognition that Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
